Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge-Established in 1938, the 7000+ acre refuge for migratory birds and other wildlife, provides a great location for hiking, biking, bird & wildlife watching, fishing, photography or just watching the ocean on the east or Back Bay on the west.  Located at the south end of Sandbridge it's a great place to visit over and over.  Call (757) 721-2412 for times and more information.

False Cape State Park-Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Back Bay on the east and west and the wildlife refuge and outer banks of North Carolina on the north and south, this state park's 4,321 acres of pristine wilderness provide a wonderful environment for hiking, biking, fishing, beach walking, photography, etc.  Call (757) 426-7128 for maps and more information.

Munden Point Park-A city park on the Intracoastal Waterway, this 100 acre multi-use park has canoe rentals, boat launch facilities, picnic  shelters, three playgrounds, softball fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and equipment, acres of grassy fields and restroom facilities.  This is the place for an picnic with the family, a canoe ride or fishing trip.  Call (757) 426-5296 for additional information.

Little Island Park-Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Back Bay parking and restrooms are available.  It's only a short walk to either to sit on the beach or canoe or kayak in Back Bay.  Call (757)426-0013 for more information.
