Welcome to Tidewater Country, located in southeastern Virginia.
Bounded on the north by the James River and the Chesapeake Bay and the east by
the Atlantic Ocean; we extend south into northeastern North Carolina and
westward through Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk, Virginia.
If
you've been thinking of living in a place that might offer a better life for you
and your family, a place with a little slower pace and a lot more space, welcome
to southeastern Virginia and Tidewater Country. We offer more than just a place
to live: it's a way of life.
Florence
Turner, in Gateway To The New World, tells of people that first came to
this area south of Jamestown looking for more land near rivers and creeks for
transportation, trees for building, and a place to settle that would offer a
better life for themselves and their families.
This site is
dedicated to sharing with you some of the reason we love Tidewater
Country. Things to do, places to go, good places to eat, all are part of
Tidewater Country.
Recreational opportunities throughout Tidewater Country are many and varied. The
Atlantic Ocean, Chesapeake Bay, James River and other area lakes and rivers
offer endless opportunities for fishing, swimming, sailing and canoeing.
If you enjoy
hiking or biking, you'll enjoy the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge or any one
of our many city and state parks. Northwest River Park in Chesapeake offers
miles of trails for horseback riding. Equestrian activities are an important
part of Tidewater Country Living. Whether English or Western, you will find
numerous shows, rodeos and riding trails throughout the area.
For the
golfer, there are eighteen golf courses ranging from well maintained municipal
courses to a top Arnold Palmer course at West Neck.

& Educational Opportunities . . . Tidewater, Virginia, is unique when it

cultural opportunities include: The Virginia Stage Company, Virginia Opera,
Virginia Arts Festival, Virginia Symphony and Norfolk and Virginia Beach Forums.
Festivals . .
. If you like to eat and just have fun all at the same time, our area is for
you. Whether it's the Chesapeake Jubilee, Virginia Beach's Boardwalk Art Show,
Pungo's Strawberry Festival or Norfolk's Harborfest in the spring, Suffolk's
Peanut Festival or the Beach's Neptune Festival in the fall; the music is good,
the food is great and the fun can't be beat.
Employment
& Shopping . . . With everything else to do, if you can find time to work,
many of the area's largest employment and shopping centers are within a thirty
